Donations needed to replace playscape

The PTA at Sacajawea Elementary School is seeking to raise more than $40,000 in donations to replace playground equipment recently destroyed in a fire.

"The school's insurance requires a $100,000 deductible, so that's no help. It's up to the PTA to raise the money," says PTA spokeswoman Kate Laughlin. "Meanwhile, the kids at Sacajawea have nothing to play on during recess."

The PTA recently held a Playscape Benefit Concert to raise funds, but more donations are still needed.

The school is located at 9501 NE 20th in the Maple Leaf/Victory Heights neighborhood.
